ZZ Top Rock The Sporting Club In Monte-Carlo
The rock band ZZ Top were in Monte-Carlo last month (July 21, 2008) as part of the European leg of their "In Your Face Tour", which is now moving throughout the United States and Canada with tour dates currently booked up to November 1, 2008 ending at the Civic Center in Amarillo Texas. The Texas trio who hail from Houston, Texas, is comprised of Billy Gibbons (guitar, lead vocals), Dusty Hill (base guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Frank Beard (drums, vocals). ZZ Top played the Sporting Club's "Salle Des Etoiles" in Monte-Carlo (see photo above) and played some of their famous songs like "Legs", "Sharp Dressed Man", and "Give Me All Your Lovin" to bring heavy rock to the shores of the Mediterranean.
With their unique 'ZZ Top' look the trio visited Paris, Spain and Portugal and its hard to imagine that they didn't go unnoticed when they performed their site seeing expeditions throughout the towns, even if in the disguise of tourists. ZZ Top has been playing together for almost 40 years, having formed as a trio in 1969 in Houston. The band members count the blues legend "B.B. King" as one of their inspirations and opened for the Rolling Stones in 1972 and remain friends with the Stone's Keith Richards and Mick Jagger to this day. It was Keith Richards who was the presenter to induct the band ZZ Top into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame on March 15, 2004 in Cleveland, Ohio.
