Toyota's Version 2 of the FT-EV Electric Car

PARIS, FRANCE - At the 2010 Paris Motor Show this month, we took this photo of Toyota's concept electric car called the Toyota FT-EV II. Based on a gasoline powered 2010 Toyota IQ chassis, the FT-EV II electric car is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack that gives the vehicle a driving range of about 90 km (55.9 miles).

Toyota says that the FT-EV II electric concept car can reach a top speed of 100 km/h (62.1 mph) and can carry up to four passengers in a 2+2 seating arrangement. Charging the FT-EV II's lithium-ion battery takes 2.5 hours to achieve a full charge using a 200V charger and 7.5 hours when using a 100V charger. Toyota has already indicated that they will release their first production electric car in 2012 but are keeping the model a secret.
