Tesla Motors' Stealth Zero-Emissions Fighter

MONTE-CARLO, MONACO - theirEarth Motoring was at the grand opening yesterday of the Tesla Motors Monaco dealership that has been set up to give full sales coverage for the Southern Europe region. We took our first photo of the new 2010 Tesla Roadster Sport (see photo), which had a customized decal treatment applied to Tesla 'Brilliant Yellow' that had been specially ordered by the customer. H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco officially opened the Monte-Carlo dealership yesterday evening and the launch was a great success.

theirEarth's Managing Director, Christopher Wheat, attended the launch of the Tesla Motors dealership in Monaco and took this photo of the Tesla Roadster Sport, which has a list price in Europe of 99,000 Euros (inclusive of VAT) and comes with forged alloy wheels (silver or black finish), high performance tires, and custom tuned adjustable suspension. On the outside the Roadster Sport has carbon fibre gloss accent panels on the hood (bonnet), and a gloss carbon fibre rear wrap support bar for the removable panel roof. The interior trim has an excellent quality finish on the 2010 Tesla Roadster model.

In Europe, the base price for the standard Tesla Roadster is 84,000 Euros and the Roadster Sport Signature model is 108,000 Euros. A 9,000 Euro deposit secures the delivery of a Tesla Roadster and the waiting time is currently between 3 to 4 months for customer delivery.

The standard safety features are four sensor, four channel ABS brakes, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear crumple zones, driver and passenger front air bags. The aluminium chassis has a rigid occupent safety cell, side impact door beams, seat belt pretensioners, body integrated head restraints. For security, the Tesla Roadster comes standard with an advanced theft-deterrent and immobilizer system with both a security PIN for starting the car and a valet mode to restrict speed, performance and range of the car when your Roadster over to someone to drive.

The performance of the Tesla Roadster is impressive with a 0 to 100 km/h (62.5 mph) time of just under 4.0 seconds and the Tesla Roadster Sport improves upon this time with a 0 to 100 km/h time (62.5 mph) of 3.8 seconds, by using a more powerful 215 kW electric motor over the standard 185 kW electric motor on the Roadster. The top speed of the Roadster is 200 km/h (125 mph) and the range on a full charge is 393 km (245.63 miles). But no matter which Roadster you choose, the Lotus engineered handling and the acceleration are mind blowing, and the body is hand crafted in carbon fibre.
