RUF Gives Porsche's Cayenne An Electric Boost
PFAFFENHAUSEN, GERMANY - theirEarth Motoring's photographers captured this picture today in Monaco of the all-electric powered eRUF 'Stormster' car that is built on the Porsche Cayenne chassis. Designed and constructed by RUF Automobile GmbH of Pfaffenhausen, Germany, the eRUF Stormster is a joint development car between RUF, Siemens, and Li-Tec Battery GmbH and it has a zero-emissions pedigree under the hood. The electric eRUF Porsche Stormster had its first debut at the Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen, Denmark at the end of last year on December 15, 2010. The eRUF Stormster is powered by a 270 kW (367 hp) Siemens electric motor and has a Siemens/RUF jointly developed electric power delivery and charging system. The total vehicle weight of the Stormster with batteries is 2,670 kg (5874 lbs) and RUF says that the all-electric powertrain can accelerate the Porsche Cayenne chassis from zero to 100 km/h (62.5 mph) in less than 10 seconds. On Germany's open stretches of the autobahn, the eRUF Sportster can hit a top speed of 150 km/h (93.8 mph) and has a full charge driving range of 200 km (125 miles) with power delivered from its Li-Tec lithium-ion battery pack. |
