Richard Spooner Wins 2009 Monaco Global Champions Tour Event
MONACO - American Richard Spooner, riding his horse 'Cristallo', won the Grand Prix event of the 2009 Monaco CN Global Champions Tour yesterday (see photo). Richard's win came after a jump-off event was initiated because the first four riders had completed rounds 1 and 2 with no jumped faults. Second place was won by Brazilian Alvaro De Miranda on his horse 'Ad Picolien Zeldenrust', and the third place finisher was Brazilian Rodrigo Pessoa on 'Let's Fly'. For the Monaco win, Richard Spooner picked up 95,000 Euros prize money, whilst second place Alvaro de Miranda won 57,000. Third place finisher Pesoa won 38,000 prize money. In the jump-off final, four riders made it to this round and they were:- Richard Spooner, Alvaro De Miranda, Rodrigo Pessoa, and John Whitaker from the United Kingdom. Richard Spooner had a dominant time in the jump-off, riding with zero faults and a time of 35.46 seconds for the course. Second place Alvaro De Miranda also rode with zero faults and in 36.85 seconds.
