Zero Emissions Is Part Of The Renault Mission Statement
The 2008 Paris Auto Show, which was held October 4-19, 2008, was full of the latest cars from the world's automobile manufacturers and Renault had their ZE Concept electric car on display as a design study of what could be possible in a high technology zero emissions world. Renault has already stated that their goal is to become a 100% zero emissions company for the design and production of automobiles. Renault's ZE Concept is a fully electric vehicle with a 70kW/90 hp electric motor that has a maximum torque of 226 Nm at 3000 rpm. The ZE Concept uses lithium ion batteries to store power and these provide enough peak power to give the Renault ZE Concept a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of 13 seconds. The ZE Concept can be charged overnight on a standard 240 V outlet For the sound system, Renault engineers have integrated a Samsung top- end telecommunications system. The ZE Concept rides on high-tech Michelin Pneumatics with a diameter of 21 inches and sized at 245/35/ R21, and the rims are made of aluminium. Like in most electric cars, the engine is directly coupled to the front wheel drive and using the inverter switch allows for a change in direction of the motor to accommodate reversing. |
