Renault DeZir - Electric Sports Concept Car
PARIS, FRANCE - Renault displayed their futuristic DeZir sports electric car at the 2010 Paris Motor Show late last year. Shown painted in a brilliant red colour (see photograph), the two-seater DeZir's development was led by Laurens van den Acker from Renault's Design Department. The all-electric Renault DeZir concept car has 21-inch alloy wheels with a mid-rear mounted electric motor for optimum weight distribution. The car is powered by a 24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, mounted behind the seats. On a full charge, the Renault DeZir electric car is capable of achieving a 160 km (100 mile) driving range.
The Renault DeZir has a design heritage derived from the Megane Trophy race car. The DeZir project team constructed the car's body of Kevlar with a tubular steel frame, delivering a considerable reduction in weight. Additionally, the Renault DeZir sports coupe has a double wishbone suspension, as found on the Renault Megane Trophy race car.
Renault has designed the interior of the DeZir for weight reduction. The seats are a one-piece construction and trimmed in white leather, with the console and accessories painted in a contrasting red laquer. The DeZir's bench seat cocoon's the driver, and is covered in an interlocking design, using a quilted pattern on the passsenger seat and a uniform pattern for the driver's side.
