George Clooney Up For An Oscar In "Up In The Air"
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently announced their nominations for the 2010 Academy Awards taking place on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. In the category of Actor in a Leading Role there are five nominees: Jeff Bridges in “Crazy Heartâ€, George Clooney in “Up in the Airâ€, Colin Firth in “A Single Manâ€, Morgan Freeman in “Invictusâ€, and Jeremy Renner in “The Hurt Lockerâ€. Actor George Clooney (seen in the photo) has been nominated for an Oscar for the Actor in a Leading Role category in "Up In The Air" for his portrayal of Ryan Bingham, an employee layoff specialist who travels around the United States conducting terminations on behalf of employers who are too timid to do the work themselves. His process of conduting dismissals personally comes under threat when he is called back to his head office to launch an on-line internet termination program, which he is opposed to implementing. George Clooney does an excellent job in "Up In The Air" developing the character and the interactions Ryan Bingham has while travelling about the States. The movie "Up In The Air" was released by Paramount on Sept 5, 2009 in association with Cold Spring Pictures and DW Studios, and it was directed by Jason Reitman. |
