Sandra Bullock's Academy Award Nomination For "The Blind Side"
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - Actress Sandra Bullock (see photo) was recently nominated for a 2010 Academy Award Oscar in the category Actress in a Leading role for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy in the motion picture "The Blind Side" (releasedÂ by Warner Bros. on November 20, 2009). Sandra Bullock stars in the film along with actor Quinton Aaron, who plays the real-life character Michael Oher, a foster care child who has an incredible talent to play football, and eventually makes his way to the NFL draft to play as an offensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens.
TheÂ film follows the trials and tribulations of foster child Michael Oher in his rise to make it to the NFL (National Football League), and Sandra Bullock's character, Leigh Anne Tuohy, finally becomes the adoptive mother to Oher. Bullock's character (Leigh Anne) acts to inspire and support Oher to achieve the grades necessary for a college scholarship, and she even hires a private tutor to help him raise his academic grades. "The Blind Side" also stars Tim McGraw who plays the role of Leigh Anne Tuohy's son, Sean Tuohy, and Kathy Bates, who portrays Miss Sue, the private tutor to Michael Oher.
Along with Sandra Bullock, there are four other nominees for the category Actress in a Leading Role, and these are: Helen Mirren in âThe Last Stationâ, Carey Mulligan in âAn Educationâ, Gabourey Sidibe in âPrecious: Based on the Novel âPushâ by Sapphireâ, and Meryl Streep in âJulie & Juliaâ. The 2010 Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California.Â
"The Blind Side" is based on the novel "The Blind Side - Evolution of a Game", written by Michael Lewis. The movie was directed by John Lee Hancock and is a production of Alcon Entertainment. "The Blind Side" has also been nominated for an Oscar this year in theÂ Best Picture category.
