Novak Djokovic - World's No. 3 Ranked Tennis Player
MONTE-CARLO, MONACO - Novak Djokovic, the 2009 ATP No. 3 world ranked tennis professional held a news conference this morning with his new equipment sponsor - Head, as part of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters in Monaco. Djokovic today played against the No. 65 ranked Oscar Hernandez, who is 31 years old and from Spain. Djokovic defeated Hernandez this afternoon to continue his advance towards what he hopes will be the finals in Monte-Carlo. Djokovic is just 21 years old and is a real gentleman. He projects a very cool distinguished manner in his moves on and off the court and like his No. 1 ranked rival, Rafael Nadal, is a big hit amongst the world's women. He has ranked No. 3 in the world for every week since July 9, 2007 (except one week - August 6, '07). Today, Djokovic said that he was looking forward to the upcoming clay court season, and that he feels great about playing in Monaco. When asked whether he felt any pressure about defending his ATP ranking, he said that it didn't bother him and that he put more emphasis on concentrating on his game. Djokovic said that he was having more success in taking his game closer to the net, and that he was hopeful that he could improve his ranking this year with hard effort. When asked about the opposition posed by Rafael Nadal, Djokovic said that the Spaniard is a strong competitor, plays a very physical game, is in excellent condition, and is well suited for the long arduous matches attributed to clay court surfaces. |
