Tata Nano EV Electric Expected For 2013

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND - At the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month (March 2, 2012), Tata Motors of India showcased their new electric concept car, the Nano EV. The Tata Nano EV is built on the company's standard Nano model car platform and the EV's electric motor drives the front wheels. The Nano EV will utilize a super polymer lithium-ion battery pack for power.

Tata Motors says the Nano EV seats four passengers and they predict the production version of their electric car will have a range of 160 km (99.4 miles) from a full battery charge. Anticipated performance of the Nano EV electric car is zero to 60 km/h (37.3 mph) in under ten seconds. Tata Motors also indicated that the expected production release date for the Nano EV is 2013 for the world market.
