Renault-Nissan To Support Monaco Electric Car Infrastructure
The Renault-Nissan Alliance and the Government of Monaco recently announced (November 20, 2008) a Memorandum Of Understanding between the two parties towards the promotion of an electric car infrastructure within the Principality. The working relationship will promote the development of the electric charging infrastructure within Monaco and also develop the 'future mode' techniques and technology and test this amongst the residents of the Principality for global roll-out. Monaco is well known for being the host of the annual EVER Motor Show and Conference at the Grimaldi Forum, which is a global transportation technology exhibition for sustainable transportation products, transportation ideas, and supporting zero-emissions infrastructures. This year, the 2009 EVER Monaco Motor Show and Conference will be held on March 26-29, 2009 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte-Carlo, Monaco. Last year's show was well attended by the major car and two-wheel vehicle manufacturers. For 2009, EVER Monaco is expected to be a sell-out event due to the increased emphasis on this mode of transport. The Renault-Nissan alliance, under the leadership of Carlos Ghosn, President and CEO of the two companies, is putting significant effort behind the construction of electric car infrastructures worldwide. In 2008, Renault announced similar to Monaco joint cooperation electric vehicle infrastructure promotion efforts with Portugal, the City of Yokohama Japan, the State of Tennessee, the State of Oregon, and with the French utility giant EDF. The vehicle shown in the photo is the long distance Renault Ondelios concept car, which is actually a hybrid diesel-electric, and also showcases aerodynamic and energy efficiency technologies. Renault displayed the Ondelios concept car to the public and press at the 2008 Paris Auto Show (2008 Paris Mondial De L'Automobile) on October 2, 2008. |
