Two-Time F1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen In Monaco's Pit Lane
MONTE-CARLO, MONACO - Mika Hakkinen, the two-time Formula 1 World Champion (1998 & 1999) who was born in Finland, was in the pits and hospitality area yesterday for the F1 Practice Sessions of the 2009 Monaco Grand Prix. Mika Hakkinen, after Alain Prost, is considered to be one of the most precise drivers in Formula 1 history. His training as an F1 test driver for McLaren, which eventually turned into the lead driver role for the team, allowed him to build a consistency in his driving style that he could translate into very precise increments in performance during qualifying sessions, and during races. Off the track, Hakkinen carries the same precision in his movements and a drive to exceed expectations. Mika retired from the McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 team in 2001, after eleven successful seasons in F1. In 2005, Hakkinen drove three successful seasons in DTM motorsports, driving for the Mercedes team. He retired from DTM racing at the end of the 2007 season. Mika has never really been too far from Formula 1's pit lane or the advances in F1 technology. Like Fangio and Prost, racing is in his blood, and for him the drive to win is never far off - no matter where he turns his efforts |
