Macy Gray's Concert At The Sporting Club, Monte-Carlo

Macy Gray brought what she refers to as her "best band in the whole wide world" to Monte-Carlo yesterday evening to play the Sporting Club in Monaco. Macy said "we've come all the way from Los Angeles just to see you", and for those who were at her concert last night there was a lot of appreciation that she could make it.

Macy called out to the audience to stand up and party, and by the end of the evening, the Monte-Carlo Sporting Club audience had joined in with her in song thanks to her sheer persistence. Macy asked for all the 'sexy people' to join in on some songs, and she formally introduced herself as 'Macy Gray', but made sure that everyone else answered back with their name also.

Gray showed her musical diversity, unique singing style, and mastery of 'the show' as she covered about fifteen songs in her Monte-Carlo session. Her song "Relating To A Psychopath" off the album "The Id" sounded spectacular live, as did "Things That Made Me Change" from the "Trouble With Being Myself" album. Then there was the fantastic 'show' Macy performed with her entire band and stage crew for the song "Oblivion" using the lyrics of the song to "get this party started".

Later she performed her song "Still", which got everyone standing up to sing with her. Then if that wasn't enough, she closed the concert with an extended version of her worldwide hit "I Try", which everyone in the Sporting stood up to sing along with her.

Macy Gray's concert at the Sporting Club was one of a series of great concerts they have had there this summer. People from across Europe have come to Monaco to catch an event and take in the atmosphere. Eric Clapton will close the Sporting's summer season of concerts with two shows on August 22 and 23.

About Macy Gray

Macy Gray's 1999 hit single "I Try" won her the 2001 Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and the song was also nominated for Song of the Year and Record Of The Year. "I Try" was off the album "On How Life Is" (1999), which sold 7 million copies worldwide. The singles "Still" and "Why Didn't You Call Me" were also extremely successful songs from this album.

Macy Gray has a distinctive singing voice that is appreciated worldwide. She puts a unique emphasis on the combination of words in her songs and the way she sings them. "I try to say goodbye and I choke, I try to walk away and I stumble" is the Macy Gray sound immediately known to millions.

Gray's most recent Album, her fourth, is "Big", released in 2007. "Big" is all about life, the soul, love, joys, and sorrows. The two chart singles off this album are "Finally Made Me Happy" and "Shoo Be Doo". Macy Gray has also opened a music school in Hollywood called The M. Gray Music Academy, located in North Hollywood in the United States. The Academy gives children a start in their musical careers and now has 150 students enrolled.
