All-New 2009 KTM Score Prestige Racing Mountain Bike
The 2008 Cycle Show was held in London in the United Kingdom on October 9, 2008, and we had a chance to photograph the new 2009 KTM Score Prestige mountain bike and talk to representatives from KTM in Austria. The Score Prestige is KTM's professional race class mountain bike and their top of the line model. The entire cycle is an incredibly light 9.6 kg (21.1 lbs) and it has a full suspension front ad rear with this light overall weight. In 2008, the KTM Score Prestige was a hot cycle, and now for 2009, KTM has completely revised the carbon frame with flowing curvature in the monocoque construction frame, giving increased rigidity, with a new rear swing-arm for better rear end grip and power application on loose terrain surfaces.
KTM calls the new carbon composite frame on the Score Prestige an HE2:1 CM-Race Frame and say it is available in sizes 43, 48,and 53. The rear shock is a DT Swiss SSD Carbon, (same as the 2008 Score Prestige), and the rear suspension travel is 100 mm. The front forks are DT Swiss XRC-100 RL with remote lock-out and have 100 mm of travel.
The KTM Score Prestige uses the Shimano XTR series for both gear change and braking components. The rear derailleur is a Shimano XTR Shadow, and the front derailleur a Shimano XTR, with Shimano XTR Rapidfire shift levers. The brakes are Shimano XTR hydraulic disc type, and the front disc measures 180 mm and the rear disc 160 mm. The crankset is also Shimano XTR and the Hollowtech II model.
For the dynamic wheelset, KTM has specified DT Swiss XRC 330 carbon rims, with DT Swiss 240 Disc CL black hubs front and rear. The tires are Schwalbe Furious Fred 2.0 foldables. For steering, the Score Prestige uses carbon fiber composite components, with the headset being a Ritchey WCS Carbon A-Head Integrated, and the stem and handlebars are Ritchey WCS Carbon OS, with the grips being Ritchey WCS True Grip.
Seating on the KTM Score Prestige is a Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio Flow and the seat post is a Ritchey WCS Carbon 1 bolt - diameter 30.9 mm. The KTM factory list price for the Score Prestige is 7,299 euros in Europe or £5699 sterling in the United Kingdom (subject to change with current currency volatility).
