Kate Winslet Wins The Oscar For Best Actress In "The Reader"
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - The very beautiful Kate Winslet was photographed yesterday (February 22, 2009) at the 81st Academy Awards as she posed on the red carpet prior to the awards ceremony. Later that evening, Kate was awarded the Oscar for Best Actress for her strong performance in the motion picture "The Reader". Kate Winslet plays the role of the seductive Hanna Schmitz, an ex-nazi concentration camp guard who is finally exposed as such later in her life and faces a trial before the courts. The movie has been brilliantly directed by Stephen Daldry, who like Winslet was nominated for an Oscar for his work on the film. "The Reader" screenplay was adapted from the novel of the same name, written by German author Bernhard Schlink and it was first published in 1995. |
