Jenson Button 4th Fastest In Thursday's Monaco Practice Sessions
MONTE-CARLO, MONACO - He's won four out of the first five Grand Prix's held in 2009, and coming into the Monaco Grand Prix, Jenson Button is fortunate to have the momentum of the Brawn Mercedes GP team behind him to support his efforts in his quest to win the 2009 F1 World Championship. Button was the fourth fastest in Thursday's Monaco GP practice sessions with a lap time of 1:15.774. His Brawn Mercedes team mate, Rubens Barrichello was slightly quicker with a third place 1:15.590. Fastest on the Monaco Grand Prix circuit on Thursday was Nico Rosberg in the Williams Toyota at 1:15.243, followed by second place Lewis Hamiton in the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes at 1:15.445. With the 4 Grand Prix races that he's won this season, Jenson Button is currently in first place in the drivers standings with 41 championship points. Button said that the morning practice session in Monaco was difficult for him as he had trouble with his car's balance with both rear brake lock-up in the low-speed corners and then understeer in the high speed corners. By the start of the second practice session, the Brawn Mercedes race engineers had improved his set-up, including the use of softer compound tires, and this allowed him to post his competitive fourth place time in the afternoon. |
