Honda's First Zero Emissions Car - FCX Clarity Starts Production
Honda held the production launch ceremony of the Honda FCX Clarity at its manufacturing plant in Tochigi, Japan yesterday. The first ever production Honda FCX Clarity was driven off the assembly line in Japan by Honda President and CEO Takeo Fukui along with three of the first five announced California customers. The FCX Clarity is Honda's first production based zero emissions car and runs on hydrogen gas using a fuel cell process to convert the hydrogen to electricity and power an electric motor. The Honda FCX Clarity produces just water as an exhaust. Three Honda Dealers in Southern California (Honda Of Santa Monica, Power Honda Costa Mesa, Scott Robinson Honda) will provide the initial infrastructure for leasing and servicing the new hydrogen powered Honda FCX Clarity. Honda Motor Co. invited four of the first California FCX Clarity owners to the historic first zero emissions FCX Clarity produced ceremony in Japan. The first five owners of FCX Claritys will be: Film Producer Ron Yerxa, Actress Jamie Lee Curtis and husband Christopher Guest, Business Owner Jim Salomon, Actress Laura Harris, and Jon Spallino. All of the new FCX Clarity owners live in the Southern California area and will be able to provide Honda with valuable feedback on the performance of the FCX Clarity. |
