Honda's Project Earth

Honda earthdreams - The Honda Racing F1 Team had their official unveiling of the RA108 Formula 1 car (earthdreams) at the team's headquarters in Brackley, United Kingdom on January 29, 2008. The new Honda F1 car is painted in the 'earthdreams' colours, which is a platform for both Honda Motor Co. and their F1 Racing Team to promote Earth good causes. Honda's two F1 drivers for the 2008 season are Jenson Button, driving Car No 16, and Rubens Barrichello in Car No. 17. Alexander Wurz will be the Team's Test and Reserve Driver.

Using the 'earthdreams' logo, Honda wants to move the world to focus on Earth improvement projects through 'earthdreams', and Honda is already a leader in initiatives for fuel cell, solar panel, and zero emissions hydrogen production technologies. Honda's F1 Racing Team and its partners have already committed $1.2 million to the 'earthdreams' cause and $700,000 is already allocated to projects.

Formula 1 has always been the sport to develop the highest levels of automotive technology, and with the push to zero emissions and hybrid cars in the passenger car marketplace, one can see a time in the near future when F1 will demonstrate the most advanced technical capability of zero emissions vehicles. Honda's 'earthdreams' project for 2008, is a continuation of the 'myearthdreams' theme that they launched in 2007 for Honda and its partners to support investment in good causes as a marketing initiative.

Ross Brawn, Honda F1 Racing's Team Principal, says that in the design of the RA108, the teams "focus has been on attaining a high level of aerodynamic efficiency with stability, and this is reflected in the way that the chassis has been revised to interact with the different aerodynamic features and the suspension". In 2008, Ross Brawn's target is to get Honda F1 Racing back to the same position that it was at in the second half of the 2006 season, when Honda fought for podium points at every race event.

Nick Fry, the Chief Executive Officer of the Honda F1 Racing Team said "earthdreams' mission is to harness the power of dreams by supporting, investing in, and empowering inspirational projects that have a positive impact on the world around them, which will be supported by Honda and its partners."
