Ford Edge HySeries Concept - Hybrid Plug-In Fuel Cell Vehicle
The Ford Motor Company recently announced a first to the world of motoring, with the creation of a Hybrid Plug-In Fuel Cell vehicle. The Ford Edge Hy Series Concept is a vehicle from Ford's Environmental Vehicles Engineering development group. Ford have given this zero emissions drive system the trademark name of HySeries Drive. The HySeries Concept vehicle can run the first 25 miles (40km) of a daily commute on its Full Plug-In 110/220 V Electric batteries and then switch over to its hydrogen fuel cell power if the journey is longer. Its a 336 volt Lithium Ion battery powered system and is an excellent design for a family who conducts daily short commutes. Ford's advanced vehicle engineering will be working hard and long hours to reduce manufacturing costs and vehicle weight to try to bring this hybrid electric-fuel cell version to market at a competitive price with built-in durability. |
