2008 EVER Monaco Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energy Exhibition
EVER Monaco 2008, the Motor Show exhibiting the best in ecological cars, two-wheel vehicles, and renewable energy technologies (CLEANTECH) was held in Monaco this week (March 27-30, 2008) at the Grimaldi Forum. The EVER Monaco exhibition showcased the latest developments in environmental transport and energy efficiency technology. Major world automobile manufacturers and battery and equipment suppliers presented and demonstrated their electric, hybrid, fuel cell, gas and bio-fuel powered cars and equipment.
This year, BMW brought their flagship Hydrogen 7 car to EVER Monaco 2008. The Hydrogen 7 is based upon the BMW 760iL platform, but with significant engineering changes made to enable the car to run on pure hydrogen for zero emissions or switch over to gasoline (petrol) at the push of a button on the steering wheel. Nissan brought their Mixim Electric Concept car to EVER 2008, a futuristic car that seats three and has vertically lifting doors and an advanced interior design. Honda showcased their Civic Hybrid car and Citroen had their full range of bio fuel vehicles on display. At the Toyota and Lexus stand, they displayed their complete range of hybrid vehicles, including the Prius hybrid and the Lexus 600H L (long wheelbase) hybrid car.
Venturi of Monaco and Think of Norway were at EVER Monaco in full force with production models of their new cars at their stands. Think had the Think City electric car on display and also available for test drives and Venturi had two production cars, the electric supercar the Fetish (see photo above) and the solar/wind/plug-in powered Eclectic at the show. They also had the solar panel concept car, the Astrolab on display. Venturi's Eclectic was also available for test drives on the streets of Monaco.
The other half of EVER Monaco covered renewable energy companies who were presenting their renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency concepts and equipment. The 'Ride and Drive' event for the ecological vehicles and the scientific conference to present papers complemented the show extremely well. Many people took part in test driving the zero and partial zero emissions cars and the two-wheel electric motorcycles, scooters and bicycles within Monaco.
This was the third year of the EVER Monaco Exhibition, and each year it has grown in size. What was pioneering vehicle technology of the past has now become commercial mainstream. In the years 2008/2009/2010, it is expected that most major automobile manufacturers will launch their pre-production and production electric, hybrid and fuel cell powered cars for commercial sale. These new zero emissions and partial zero emissions vehicles (hybrids) will become very visible on the streets of the major city centres within the next year.
Those who made it to EVER Monaco 2008 this year were able to see the future of automotive and energy efficiency technology. The Partners (Sponsors) for EVER Monaco 2008 were Nissan Motor Co, Ltd, HSBC Private Bank, SMEG (Societe Monegasque de l'Electricite et du Gaz), Automobile Club de Monaco, Fondation Albert II de Monaco, and AutoBio.
