Estelle To Perform With The Tings Tings At 2009 BRIT Awards
(London, United Kingdom) - The 2009 BRIT Awards sponsored by Mastercard, will be held this week on Wednesday evening (February 18, 2009) in London in the United Kingdom. The Awards will be broadcast live on ITV1 on Wednesday evening (Feb 18). An all-star line-up of performers will be at the BRITS this year and Estelle will be one of the top acts to perform along with The Tings Tings in a premiere duet. The BRIT Awards brings the best of British music together in an orchestra of collective top sound, with the United Kingdom being a major heart of the global recording industry and top artistic talent.
Viewers of the BRITS will see some of the best acts in the music industry perform live in London. The stellar line up of performers includes: Girls Aloud, Take That, Coldplay, Duffy, Kings of Leon, Estelle and the Tings Tings and multi-award winning U2 who will bring the house down with their latest single "Get On Your Boots". Ged Doherty, Chairman of the BRITs Committee says that the pairing of Estelle and The Tings Tings, which are two of the hottest recording acts in Britain, is a performance they've researched that viewers can't wait to see.
The Tings Tings are nominated for a BRIT Award in the category of British Breakthrough Act. They are a duo of Jules De Martino and Katie White and last year (2008) released a hit single titled "That's Not My Name", which went right to the top of the UK charts immediately after its release. The Tings Tings album "We Started Nothing" also went to number 1 on the UK Album Charts last year.
In another award category, this year's recipients of the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award will be the musical pioneers the Pet Shop Boys. The Pet Shop Boys are made up Neil Tennant on lead vocals, keyboards and guitar, and Chris Lowe on keyboards and vocals. The group has sold over 50 million records since 1986. The Pet Shop Boys music is very enduring and they have had 22 Top Ten UK hits including the well-known top hits like "West End Girls" and "Its A Sin", which almost everyone has danced to.
Britains ITV2 will broadcast the Red Carpet show at 7 PM (Feb 18) and then a BRITS Encore show will be shown later in the evening at 10 PM. T4 will run a BRIT Preview Special on Monday 16 February at 2pm and on Tuesday 17 February at 10pm, with a final lead-in broadcast at 4:30pm, February 18, on the day of the Awards.
