MUNICH, GERMANY - In 1950 BMW says that they registered a patent for a BMW light alloy bicycle frame, and today in 2009 they present their BMW Mountain Bike 'Enduro'. theirEarth Cycling recently photographed BMW's Enduro mountain bike at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and although we haven't ridden the bike yet, the overall construction looks very good and includes BMW's legendary engineering design qualities in the frame. The BMW Mountain Bike 'Enduro' is a full suspension aluminium frame bicycle that includes BMW's famous logo integrated into many parts of the bicycle and it is painted in 'Glossy White'. The BMW engineered frame includes a 4-pivot rear rear geometry, and the frame is made from two deep drawn halves that are robo-welded together. The front suspension on the BMW Enduro is a Manitou Minute Elite type with adjustable travel between 35 to 140 mm depending upon preference. The rear suspension shock is a Manitou Radium RL air type with a lock-out system that lets you turn the bike into a hardtail type. The handlebars are alloy low-rise X-TAS-Y AL 2014 DB MTB type in matt black. The stem is a BMW type with an integrated BMW logo. The seat post is manufactured by Kalloy and is an SP-248 type (31.6 mm). For braking, BMW has chosen the Shimano Deore XT (BR-M775) hydraulic disc brakes, and the rear derailleur is Shimano Deore XT (RD-M772) and the front derailleur is a Shimano XT (FD-M770). The shifter system is Shimano SL-M770XT. For the application of power, the BMW uses the Shimano FC-M770-LXT crank set with a 170 mm crank arm length. The pedals are Wellgo dual function type, the rear cassette is a Shimano CS-M770 (11-34 teeth), and the chain is a Shimano CN-HG93. For the contact patch, the BMW Enduro mountain bike comes with Continental Mountain King 2.4 Supersonic's with the wheel set being comprised of DT Swiss EX5.1 rims, DT Swiss black 370 6-bolt disc hubs, and DT Swiss Competition 2.0/1.8/2.0 spokes. Seating on the BMW Enduro is manufactured by fi'zick and a Nisene Sport type in black.
