Bianchi's Oetzi 9800 Titanium Mountain Bike
Mountain Bikes made from titanium are a very rare commodity and the Bianchi Oetzi 9800 is the Italian Bianchi Group's top of the line perfomance model. The Oetzi Ti frame is made from Grade 9 3Al2 5V titanium and hand crafted by Bianchi's Reparto Corse factory in Treviglio, Italy. All drop outs are cut from solid titanium ingots using CNC milling machines.
The beauty of using titanium for the frame is its extremely light weight, and its strength and durability. In Mountain Bike Racing, titanium is the competitive material to bikes made of carbon fibre. The Oetzi Ti frame comes in four size: 38, 43, 48 and 53 cm and the size 48 frame weight is 1.49 kg. Bianchi sells the Oetzi Ti frame separately if you are inclined to build your own bike
The front shock on the Oetzi 9800 is a Marzocchi MARATHON CORSA SL World Cup with 80 mm of travel and with remote lock-out capability. The rear derailleur, front derailleur and shifters are Shimano XTR, and the sprocket is a Shimano XTR 11/34. For the crankset Bianchi uses the Fsa TEAM ISSUE MegaExo. The Oetzi 9800 is designed for quick downhill turns and the chosen brakes and brake levers are Shimano's XTR Disc hydraulic brakes.
For the contact patch, the tires specified are Michelin XCR Dry 2 Tubeless 26x2.00 and these are mounted on Mavic CROSSMAX SLR Disc. The handlebars are Fsa K-FORCE Flat OS 3-K Carbon/Kevlar and the headset is FSA NO.12AY-6 and the stem Fsa OS 115C Carbon Cup. The seatpost is a Pmp Carbon 31.6 mm. Finally for seating Bianchi has specified the San Marco CAYMANO Bilanciata. The Bianchi Oetzi 9800 Titanium sells at a list price of approximately 6000.00 Euros in Italy.
