Anne Hathaway In "Rachel Getting Married" - Sony Pictures Classics
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA - The very beautiful actress, Anne Hathaway, was photographed on the red carpet at the 81st Academy Awards last month at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. Hathaway was nominated for an Oscar in the category of Actress In A Leading Role (Best Actress) for her portrayal of Kym in the movie "Rachel Getting Married" (Sony Pictures Classics). The Oscar eventually went to Kate Winslet for her role in "The Reader", but it was a close contest for the Best Actress this year as each of the five films nominated were very good.
"Rachel Getting Married" stars Hathaway and in it her character, Kym, is a recovering addict just out of rehab who returns to her family home in time for the final preparations for her sister Rachel's wedding. Kym's need for as much attention as her sister, because of her own problems, brings additional tension to the family unit who are themselves already stressed at trying to achieve a successful wedding outcome. "Rachel Getting Married" has been critically acclaimed by many of America's top newspaper and television journalists for its overall excellent portrayal of the stresses and tribulations of the modern family unit.
Anne Hathaway was born in Brooklyn, New York and then moved to Millburn, New Jersey as a child. In high school she was part of the school drama activities and performed in many of Millburn High School's plays. Her big break came in the 2001 film "The Princess Diaries", where she won the leading role of Mia Thermopolis on the first audition. Anne has also starred in the films "The Devil Wears Prada", "Havoc", Brokeback Mountain", "Becoming Jane" and "Ella Enchanted" to name a few.
