Alicia Keys' "As I Am" Is The No 1 Billboard Album For 2008

Billboard has scored Alicia Keys' "As I Am" album as 2008's number one CD/Download album. Between the period December 1, 2007 and November 29, 2008, the "As I Am" album sold 3,630,000 copies and in its first week of release sold 742,000 copies. The album includes Alicia Keys' top selling hits "Superwoman", "No One", and "You'll Never See Me Again". Alicia Keys has been on a worldwide tour for most of this year performing concerts and promoting the "As I Am" album.

Alicia Keys has been nominated for two Grammy Awards for the 2009 51st running of the show. She has been nominated for the song "Superwoman" off the "As I Am" album, where she is up against songs from the artists: Beyoncé (Me, Myself and I), Keyshia Cole (Heaven Sent), Jennifer Hudson (Spotlight), and Jasmine Sullivan (Need U Bad). The second Grammy that Alicia is nominated for is one sang with John Mayer titled "Lessons Learned" and nominated in the Grammy category of 'Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals'.

The 2009 51st Annual Grammy Awards, will be broadcast on Sunday, February 8, 2008 at 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, EST from Los Angeles. The venue for the Awards will be the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California, where it has been been televised from annually since 2000. Alicia is expected to be one of the headline performers at the Grammy Awards along with Kayne West and Amy Winehouse. The 2009 Grammy Awards are expected to attract a television audience of more than 17 million people.
