Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin To Present 82nd Academy Awards
BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA - The 82nd 2010 Annual Academy Awards (Oscars) will be telecast globally on Sunday, March 7, 2010, and will be co-hosted by actors Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. The 2010 Academy Awards will be broadcast live by the ABC Television Network and presented from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California.
For actor-comedian Steve Martin, the 82nd Awards will be his third time acting as the host, as he presented the 73rd and 75th shows previously. It will be Alec Baldwin's first time as host of the Awards, and Baldwin said last November at the time of his appointment, "I don't play the banjo but I'm thrilled to be hosting the Oscars - its the opportunity of a lifetime."
Steve Martin said very humorously about his 2010 Oscars co-host opportunity with Baldwin,"I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin." Alec Baldwin's reference to not playing the banjo was because co-host Steve Martin has been touring with his band Steep Canyon Rangers supporting his recent album "The Crow: New Songs For The Five String Banjo." In 2001 Martin earned a Grammy in the Best Country Instrumental Performance category.
Alec Baldwin currently stars in the comedy series "30 Rock" and has won two Emmys (2008 and 2009) for his performances on that show. In 2003, Baldwin was himself nominated for an Academy Award for his supporting role in the movie "The Cooler".
