The new 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid has two impressive feautures and that is its high EPA certified fuel efficiency (city: 41 U.S. mpg / highway: 36 U.S. mpg) and its ability to reach 47 mph (75.6 km/h) in all-electric EV mode before the gasoline engine has to start.

The Lincoln MKZ's gasoline engine is integrated with a hybrid CVT transmission and a permanent magnet AC synchronous electric motor rated at 106 hp at 6500 rpm. Ford says that the Lincoln MKZ's combined maximum hybrid horsepower when the engine and electric motor work together is 191 horsepower. The Lincoln MKZ Hybrid's braking system is 4-wheel disc with ABS and regenerative braking charges the battery pack during deceleration.

The Lincoln MKZ stores electrical charge using a 275 V Nickel Metal Hydride battery rated at 35 hp (26 kW) and a capacity of 5.5 Amp-hrs. The MKZ has an interactive SmartGauge display on the dashboard that gives the driver long-term feedback about their driving efficiency, including an EcoGuide cluster tree at the right of the screen that starts to grow white flowers when the driver adopts an efficient driving style.

Inside the MKZ, there is genuine swirl walnut and Olive Ash wood trims on the door panels and console. The driver and passenger seats have 10-way power adjustment with 2-way power lumbar support, and the rear seat is a 60/40 adjustable split bench, allowing for fold down additional cargo space when needed.
