2011 Audi A1 1.4 TFSI Delivers Efficient Power

PARIS, FRANCE - Audi AG will use the upcoming 2010 Paris Motor Show to present the new Audi A1 1.4 TFSI, the high efficiecy performance engine of the Audi A1 range. The Audi A1 1.4 TFSI has a 1.4-litre dual stage supercharger-turbo engine that manages to achieve a power output of 136 kW (185 hp) with a maximum torque of 250 Nm (184.39 ft-lbs) - all while delivering a combined fuel economy of 5.9 L/100 km (39.87 US mpg) and CO2 emissions of 139 g/km (223.7 g/mile).

The new Audi A1 is a front-wheel drive model and the A1 1.4 TFSI version comes standard with a sports seven-speed S tronic transmission that uses no clutch pedal. Gear changes are automatic or selected, and gear shifts make use of two internal multi-plate clutches located within the transmission itself. Audi says that the responsiveness of gear changes on the S tronic transmission is instantaneous (few hundredths of a second) and there are no detectable delays in pulling power during gear changes under acceleration.

Performance on the new Audi A1 1.4 TFSI is both efficient and impressive. The A1 1.4 TFSI can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in a fast 6.9 seconds and the car has a top speed of 227 km/h (141.05 mph). Audi says that they have used the dual stage supercharger and large turbocharger to deliver both power and high efficiency simultaneously. The supercharger works between 1,500 to 2,400 rpm whereas the large turbo comes in at around 3500 rpm or sooner when under hard acceleration. The A1 1.4 TFSI has standard 17 inch alloy wheels and is equipped with potent 4-wheel disc brakes with the front discs measuring a large 288 mm (11.34 in) in diameter.

Audi says that the A1 1.4 TFSI takes corners very well and with the help of the high performance engine and the S tronic transmission, the A1 TFSI handles the dynamics of the road surface with ease. There is a standard ESP road holding program that can detect loss of traction at a wheel during fast cornering and the ESP applies quick braking to the individual wheel to give stability to the car.

The Audi A1 1.4 TFSI is available with options like xenon plus headlights, LED daytime running lights, and LED tail lights. There is also a panoramic sunroof option, convenience key with start-stop button, two available navigation systems, and a 14-speaker 465 watt Bose sound system that is guaranteed to get the best out of any CD you play in the car.

The base price of the Audi A1 1.4 TFSI is 24,250 Euros and the standard equipment includes the S-line exterior package, 17-inch alloy wheels, manual air conditioning, black headlining and the interior LED light package.
