The 2008 Mercedes-Benz's Trekking Bike
In addition to luxury cars, Mercedes-Benz has a complete line of high quality bicycles and bicycle accessories for the 2008 model year - all carrying the distinctive three-pointed star emblem. The Mercedes-Benz 'Trekking Bike' is their all purpose model, and it is available in two styles - 'Sport' and 'Comfort'. The model shown in the photograph is the 'Sport Edition'. The Mercedes-Benz Trekking Bike is built on a 7005 type Aluminium frame and weighs approximately 15 kg (weight - 33 lbs). It is available in three sizes 45, 48 and 51 cm for both the 'Sport' and 'Comfort' editions. The Trekking is painted in Mercedes-Benz silver. Overall, the bicycle has a very high quality feel about it and looks as though it is built to last. For the front suspension fork, Mercedes-Benz has specified the Topeak MAB M1, which has 80 mm of travel and the suspension can be locked-out if the rider desires. For riding at night, there is a high spec Busch & Muller halogen lighting system that automatically switches on when it gets dark. The system is powered by a Shimano hub dynamo and a stationary LED light illuminates for when you are stopped. The Trekking comes with Shimano Alivio Front and Rear derailleurs, Crankset and Shift Levers, and it has Topeak MAB 170 mm disc brakes and brake levers. The tires are Continental Top Contact 26 x 1.75" and these are mounted on 26" Alex TD17 rims. The seat is a Selle Italia Freccia Vacuum Light. For carrying loads, the Trekking comes with a Topeak aluminium carrier as standard equipment, with a maximum load of 25 kg (55 lbs). It is available with a black Mercedes-Benz embossed pannier bag that snaps into place on the carrier. The Mercedes-Benz Trekking Bike is available at most Mercedes-Benz car dealers worldwide. |
